The Jordan Valley and Breezeway feature some of the finest artists and craftsmen in the country. The Jordan River Arts Council is a non-profit organization, offers re-known exhibits, workshops, classes and special events that highlight the region’s plethora of artistic offerings in various mediums. Bio:
A native of Northern Lower Michigan, Karen has been pursuing art and photography since childhood. In 1992, Karen opened a photography studio in East Jordan specializing in portraits and weddings. She has since escaped the confines of a brick and mortar studio to explore a wide variety of interests including fine art and writing.
A Master Photographic Artist, Karen has collected numerous awards for her outstanding photographic work. She has served on several volunteer boards and is past president of Professional Photographers of Michigan, Jordan River Arts Council, and the East Jordan Chamber of Commerce. This outstanding arts fair is held the first full weekend of August at East Jordan’s beautiful Elm Pointe on the shores of Lake Charlevoix. Artists come from all over to display and sell their beautiful creations. Music, Food, Kids Craft Table, East Jordan’s Historical Society Museum. Saturday – 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Sunday – 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Jordan River Arts Council
As a leader of the Jordan River area’s cultural community, the Jordan River Arts Council promotes, encourages, and nurtures the artistic endeavors of local residents and provides an organized framework through which quality workshops, classes, exhibits, programs and performances can be presented.

Recognizing its responsibility to nurture art in daily living and to provide participation opportunities in all areas of the arts, JRAC serves a diverse and growing community. To accomplish this mission, the Arts Council relies upon a volunteer Board of Directors and the cooperation and support of area communities.

The Jordan Valley Community Band is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary during the 2020 season. The band will hold a special 30th Anniversary Concert on May 3rd at 7:00 PM. Our volunteer musicians range from students to senior citizens that rehearse at the East Jordan High School Band room on Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM. Rebecca Palmiter directs this group of musicians who represent Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet and Otsego Counties. The annual winter concert is the first Sunday in December, the annual spring concert is the first Sunday in May. These concerts are held at the East Jordan High School auditorium at 3:00 PM (May 2020 Concert at special time – 7:00 PM) and are free. Following the May concert, the audience is cordially invited to an Afterglow to celebrate our anniversary. During the month of July, the band performs in the bandshell in East Jordan’s Memorial Park on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM. New members are always welcome. For further information, call Rebecca Palmiter, Director at 231-675-0543. The Jordan Valley Community Band is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.

Jordan Valley Glassworks is a working art studio offering a range of glass items starting with delicate jewelry items, and goes all the way to large wall hangings. In between are free form sculptures and vases, stained and blown glass chandeliers, seasonal stained glass wall hangings and blown ornaments, one-of-a-kind paperweights with outstanding examples of torch work, lawn ornaments, custom stained glass chandeliers in both stained and blown glass; lamp shades; and in the more mundane artifacts are hand mirrors, baskets, and jewel/trinket boxes, and more. We can also take the cremation remains of loved ones or pets and encase them in glass so you can have them forever in a very special place.

You are invited to stop by Jordan Valley Glassworks to watch the artists work blowing glass. The gallery is open seven days a week. Monday – Saturday 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Items in the gallery are available for sale.

Raven Hill Discovery Center is a regional science and technology center. It is located on 157 acres in a rural area of northwestern Lower Michigan next to the Little Traverse Conservancy’s Raven Ridge Nature Preserve. It is also a cultural, historical and art center. Raven Hill Discovery Center is the only place in northern Lower Michigan where children and adults can link science, history & the arts with hands-on activities and explorations both indoors and outdoors. Connections emerge through classes, exhibits and facilities that provide opportunities for all ages to learn, create, grow and play.

The Center is located between East Jordan & Boyne City, just off C-48
at Pearsall Road. The road is currently closed due to bridge
construction. Our Pop-Up Museum will be open weekends and the Main
campus will be open weekdays by request.

Saturday 12 pm- 4 pm and Sunday 2 pm- 4 pm
