Summer Solstice Celebration at Raven Hill

Impact100 Little Traverse Bay Launch Celebration

Impact100 Little Traverse Bay is a new women’s member giving collective awarding $100,000 grants in Emmet and Charlevoix Counties. A Launch Celebration will be held on Friday, June 28 from 4-6pm for new members and potential members who want to meet the board of directors and learn more about Impact100 Little Traverse Bay.  Impact100’s global founder, Wendy Steele, will be at the Launch Celebration to give the keynote speech and sign her 2023 book, Invitation to Impact: Lighting the Path to Community Transformation.

The Impact100 model awards high-impact, sustainable grants.  Members pool their $1,000 annual dues and award $100,000 grant(s) to area nonprofits in five Focus Areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Family, Health & Wellness, and Environment.  Founding membership closes December 31.  In October, workshops for nonprofits will be held in Charlevoix and Petoskey. Grant applications open January 2025.

GLCO presents Carmina Burana and Saint-Säens’ Organ Symphony with Kelly Hale

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) will present Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Camille Saint-Säens’ Organ Symphony on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 7 PM in Bay View.

 

The performance of these two masterworks and audience favorites is a true community masterpiece, presenting over 120 local artists spanning four generations, and features guest virtuoso organist Kelly Hale.  The GLCO Orchestra, guest vocalists Amy Cross and Thomas Gunther, GLCO Chorus, the Little Traverse Choral Society led by André Strydom, and the Great Lakes Children’s Choir led by Amy Cross will join forces to create this special night at the historic John M. Hall Auditorium in Bay View.

 

Tickets from $35 to $65 are available at glcorchestra.org. The concert is free for veterans, active service members, and students 18 and under by calling 231-487-0010.

Memorial Day Open House at The Depot

Come check out The Depot Teen Center immediately following the Gar Park dedication on May 27th.  Grab a brat or hotdog, see what’s happening at The Depot, and enjoy music from the band First Friday!

GLCO presents The Hummel Trio in free Mother’s Day recital

The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) will present The Hummel Trio on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12 at 4 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs. The free public recital is part of GLCO’s Sunday Series, which features small orchestra ensembles performing in churches around Northern Michigan.

The trio includes GLCO Music Director and Conductor, Dr. Libor Ondras (violin & viola), Emily Grabinski-Conklin (piano), and Andrew Laven, cello.  The Mother’s Day Recital will feature music of Brahms, Hummel, Schoenfield, Dvořák, and Kreisler.

FAIRY/GNOME GARDEN MAKE & TAKE

Create your very own miniature garden to lure in fairies, dragons, and garden gnomes.

Our Fairy Garden Classes include soil and 1 miniature plant to get you started. Our gardener will begin with a brief history of how miniature gardens began and move on to instructing the class on the key aspects of creating a fairy garden. Perfect for all ages! Bring your own container or purchase one with your ticket. Hurry- a limited number are available! Fairy homes, decor, and accessories are available for purchase in the Gift Shop.

NOTE: When purchasing your ticket, you MUST select the number of ATTENDEES that will be participating in the class. The baskets are optional add on’s. Only those who are building a garden need to purchase a ticket. If you are only observing or supervising a child you do not need to purchase a ticket.
