It truly takes many people to make a festival! Thanks once again!
What a difference a few days can make in Northern Michigan! From considering doing a “snow dance” due to no show and warm temperatures to ” Winter Storm Watches and Warnings”, severe wind chill temps, whiteouts and more! Finally from our Chamber Office windows, we are seeing snowmobiles on the horizon and in our town. Reminder to all drivers, be aware of the snowmobile traffic and pedestrians in our communities. As the white-out conditions continue, it is often difficult to see individuals or sleds.
Our office is a flurry of activity as we prepare for this weekends trip to Grand Rapids for the MI Camping and RV Show and the Annual Auction. Auction items are needed for the Annual Auction on January 30 in conjunction with the Annual meeting/dinner/awards. We are so fortunate to have the famous auctioneer Scott MacKenzie back with us once again this year. Scott is so enthusiastic about our area, the Chamber and people! We greatly appreciate his dedication and talent. Remember – also, we need your diner reservations ASAP!
The holiday’s are upon us! Hard to believe we are just a week away from Thanksgiving and then launched into the hectic holiday season! Of course, several of the big box stores are already decorated, playing holiday music and offering pre-Thanksgiving specials. Our local communities are gearing up for wonderful holiday events and celebrations. Perhaps I am a bit biased, but to me, these are the events that truly celebrate the season, gather the residents and visitors to savor the beauty, the charm and the magic that the holidays should bring to each of us. For the next month our office, will be sharing a long list of events, concerts, services and promotions coming in our area. Please be sure to review your many choices and get out to enjoy this wonderful time of year with your family and friends. No one has to attend it all – but a healthy “dose” of festivities is great for us all of us – ages 1-100+!!
Of course, while doing your holiday shopping…please…please…please… remember to shop in your community, take some time to discover all that is offered and available by your local businesses…you know – the businesses that you ask throughout the year to sponsor your ball team, your special event or local fundraiser. The businesses that are owned by members of our community that provide the jobs, the services and quality of life that you enjoy. I can’t think of a better way to say “thank you” to the business owners, that you have no problem asking for your special cause, than to purchase a product, service or gift certificate from. Let’s make the holiday season wonderful for everyone in our communities – who knows…a successful holiday season could make the difference in 2016 when you go back for your donation request whether that business is even still open…
The 6th annual Pumpkin Festival and the Leaf Peeker Craft Show certainly had every possible weather condition thrown at it this past weekend!
