Chili Cook-Off & Silent Auction Benefit Dinner- Jordan Valley EMS

A benefit dinner for an EMT of the Jordan Valley EMS who was injured in an accident requiring months of rehabilitation. All proceeds go to the Arnott Family. The event will be held at the Jordan Valley EMS building at 555 Maple Street, East Jordan starting at 5:00 PM

GLCO presents Little Waves children’s music program at Charlevoix Library

Charlevoix Public Library is hosting “Little Waves,” a young children’s music program.  Free and open to the public and sponsored by the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO), the program is designed to introduce young children (ages 4 – 10) and their families to music in an entertaining setting.  Each drop-in event takes place at 1 pm in Charlevoix and 10:30 am in Petoskey.  The theme for 2022/2023 is “Musical Adventures.” Each session features a multimedia story, an opportunity to hear one or more GLCO musicians demonstrate and explain how their instruments work, and fun music-related activities for kids. Messiah Concert by the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra presents its popular annual performance of Handel’s Messiah. The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra Chorus and guest soloists, led by Director André Strydom, will join the orchestra led by GLCO Conductor and Music Director Libor Ondras.
The concert includes Saint-Saëns’ “Oratorio de Noel” and portions of Handel’s famous “Messiah” oratorio, ending with the celebratory Hallelujah Chorus.

GLCO presents Little Waves children’s music program at Charlevoix library

The Little Waves children’s music program, from the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO), is held six times during the year at the Petoskey District Library and Charlevoix Public Library.
Free and open to the public and sponsored by the GLCO, the program is designed to introduce young children (ages 3 – 10) and their families to music in an entertaining setting.  The program takes place on Saturdays at 10:30 am in Petoskey and 1 pm in Charlevoix.  It is a drop-in program with no need to register.

Directed by GLCO percussionist and Little Waves program director, Tim Mocny, each unique event features a multimedia musical story, an opportunity to hear one or more GLCO musicians demonstrate and explain how their instruments work, and fun music-related activities for kids.

Upcoming dates are Oct. 19, 2024; Nov. 9, 2024; Jan. 11, 2025; Feb. 8, 2025; March 8, 2025; and April 12, 2025.
