East Jordan Music in the Park – Bernadette Kathryn and the Lonely Days Band

Bring a blanket or chair, grab some dinner or drinks from one of our local establishments and get ready for some great musical entertainment. The Memorial Park Bandshell will come alive with the sound of music. The Concerts in the Park are sponsored by the Jordan River Arts Council (JRAC), The East Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce and the East Jordan Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The family friendly concerts are made possible by your donations. If you would like to donate to the Music in the Park Concert Series please mail to Music in the Park Concert Series, P.O. Join the Jordan Valley Community Band as they celebrate spring! The concert if free to attend, but donations are always appreciated.

The Breezeway Communities Are Ready for You!

 

The Breezeway Communities of East Jordan, Ellsworth and Atwood are looking forward to a very fun-filled and memory-making spring and summer season. New events have been added to an already active schedule of activities.

The 14th Annual Garage Sales Across the Breezeway return on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday and Saturday, May 26 – 27. Twenty-six miles along C-48 The Breezeway, participants, residents and organizations hold garage sales. While searching for ‘great treasures” and “deals” along the route, be sure to visit the communities of East Jordan, Ellsworth and Atwood. Several businesses, resale shops, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, art center, farmers markets and more await you, your family and friends.

East Jordan and Ellsworth will be offering a spectacular line-up of summer concerts. The East Jordan Music in the Park Concert Series kicks-off on Friday, June 2 and runs thru Friday, July 28th at 7:00 PM in the bandshell located downtown in Memorial Park. The series features Bernadette Kathryn and the Lonely Days Band for its first concert. Bring your chair or blanket and be ready to enjoy a great concert by the waterfront. The Ellsworth Concert on the Square welcomes Lou Thumser to the gazebo on the Square on Wednesday, June 28th at 7:00 PM. Throughout July, the Jordan Valley Community Band will be playing on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM in the East Jordan Memorial Park Bandshell. All events are free to the public and are made possible by generous donors.

The Ellsworth/Atwood Pig Roast will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 16 – 17. This year’s theme is “Family Style”. The long running event features a water-slide, music, kid’s games and activities, horse pulls, parade, dinner, historical tours and much more. East Jordan’s Freedom Festival is gearing up for a five-day family fun event starting on Wednesday, June 21st with the Little Miss & Mr. Firecracker Pageant and runs through Sunday, June 25th with the Freedom Lover’s Breakfast at the Jordan Valley Trailblazers Clubhouse. The festival features two parades (Youth and Grand). The Family Fun Tyme” Carnival will run from Thursday evening thru Saturday evening. This year’s theme is “Live Free in 23”. New events on the schedule for Saturday include kid’s activities in the morning and Saturday throughout the day entertainment near the stage in Memorial Park and Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 PM an “Enhanced” music concert featuring: Midnight Cattle Callers, OZ and The Michael Allman Band, Like Father like Son featuring Allman Brothers music with special guest Kenny Olson on guitar.

The Grand Parade will roll down the street at 3:00 PM featuring floats, music and more. The magnificent fireworks display will be shot from a barge over the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix at dusk. This fireworks display is one of the area’s largest and most impressive shows. You don’t want to miss them!

Join us for an evening of creativity and fun!  All paints, supplies and artist guidance are included for this event that is perfect for all ages. Once you have completed your pieces, they will be transported to the Cottage Pottery studio for professional glazing and firing. After completion, they will be ready for you to pick up at Castle Farms.

A glass of 1918 Cellars wine is also included with your ticket to inspire your artistic senses!  Non-alcoholic beverage options are available for kids, and additional beverages may be purchased at the bar too.

Adult tickets are $45 and kids tickets are $30. Tickets are not available for purchase at-the-door.

GLCO presents Terra Nostra (“Our Earth”)

Terra Nostra, a concert celebrating the earth and the Great Lakes, will be the 2023 season-opening main stage concert for the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) on Saturday April 29th at 7 pm at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts, 800 Bay Harbor Drive in Petoskey.

 

The GLCO Chorus, led by Director André Strydom, will join the orchestra, led by GLCO Maestro Libor Ondras.

 

The concert program includes:

Spirit Chief Names the Animal People by Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate

Terra Nostra (Our earth in Latin), a multimedia symphony by Christophe Chagnard about climate change, with documentary film by Charlie Spears

The Great Lakes Cantata, composed by Gwyneth Walker, GLCO composer-in-residence.

 

The concert includes an optional pre-concert talk at 6 pm by Libor Ondras as well as a post-concert reception.

 

Tickets from $35 – $65 are available at www.glcorchestra.org.  The concert is free for veterans, active service members and students 18 and under by calling 231-487-0010.

Enjoy a free evening of entertainment featuring Chris Calleja.  Relax in the magical environment of Castle Farms’ Queen’s Courtyard.  Wine, cider, wraps, and charcuterie boards are available for purchase from 1918 Cellars and Gourmet Grab & Go.  In the case of inclement weather, performers will move under the Pavilion or inside.

COMEDY AT THE CASTLE

NEED A GOOD LAUGH TO KICK THOSE WINTER BLUES? JOIN US FOR COMEDY AT THE CASTLE!

Featuring 2 stand-up comedians, it will be a laugh and a half! Complimentary light appetizers will be available before and during the show, and 1918 Cellars wine will be available for purchase. Tickets for the event are $45 per person and this event is recommended for audience members age 18+. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and doors open at 6pm. Grab a friend, and a seat!

Cam Rowe is a reality TV personality, stand-up comedian, and failed basketball star from Southfield, Michigan. He has been doing comedy for nearly five years. He was a series regular on the TV show Storage Hunters on TRU TV and has also appeared on Comedy Bang Bang!

Known for his physical storytelling style of comedy, Dustin Cole is quickly becoming one of the most in demand and popular comedians on the club circuit today! Performing coast to coast, he has worked with Saturday Night legends Chris Kattan and Victoria Jackson, 80’s movie icon Bobcat Goldthwait, and is a regular and fan favorite on the Darren McCarty Slapstick Comedy Tour!
