Elk Rapids Harbor Days Community Paddle

Elk Rapids Harbor Days Community Paddle – Thursday, August 1 | 6:30 – 8:00 PM

Paddle Antrim hosts community paddles in in various locations out on the water trail including Ellsworth, Central Lake, Bellaire, and Elk Rapids. We invite all paddlers to get out on the water!

Paddle Antrim encourage all ages and types of paddle crafts to join us on the water for these slow paddles. These paddles last approximately one hour on the water, are free, and no pre-registration is required.  All paddlers must bring their own craft/boat, paddle, and pfd (life jacket). As with all Paddle Antrim events, pfds must be properly worn at all times. All ages are welcome but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult out on the water.

Native Plant Identification Community Paddle – St. Clair Lake-Six Mile Lake Natural Area – Wednesday, July 24 | 6:00 – 7:30 PM

Paddle Antrim Festival

The Paddle Antrim Festival celebrates the amazing waterways and communities of Northern Michigan. The Festival, always the second weekend after Labor Day, includes a two-day paddle event through the Chain of Lakes Water Trail. This choose your own adventure paddle provides the opportunity for you to paddle one or both days and decide how far to travel. There are exits strategically placed along the route so you may go anywhere from 7 miles to all 42 miles.

Memorial Open House Honoring Richard Mueller

We invite you to join us for a Memorial Open House to honor the life and legacy of our beloved owner, Richard Mueller, who recently passed away. This special event will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, at Castle Farms, where Richard’s passion and dedication left an indelible mark.

  • Memorial Service: 11:00 AM at Castle Farms
  • Open House and Tours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

In tribute to Richard’s tireless efforts and love for our community, tours will be offered free of charge to all guests at Castle Farms and Hungry Ducks throughout the day. This is our way of celebrating his commitment and contributions, ensuring his spirit continues to inspire us all.

GLCO presents Ravel’s Tzigane | Gypsy Violin

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) presents Ravel’s Tzigane | Gypsy Violin

The Thursday, July 18 concert will be an evening filled with high-energy music of Roma (Gypsies) from the Mediterranean and Balkan vibrant cultures. Featured will be internationally acclaimed Balkan violinist Robert Lakatos from Serbia performing Ravel’s Tzigane, Sarasate’s Caprice Basque and more on his private collection violin of Antonio Stradivari from 1709.

Mr. Lakatos is one of the most promising young artists of his generation and the GLCO is thrilled to bring him to the northern Michigan audiences.

The concert will take place at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor, Petoskey on Thursday, July 18th at 7 PM. Visit glcorchestra.org for tickets $35 to $65 or call 231-487-0010.

40th Anniversary Party at Challenge Mountain Resale Store

Everyone is Invited to Celebrate Challenge Mountain’s 40th Anniversary next Tuesday, June 18 from 4 – 7pm!
Challenge Mountain continues its 40th-year celebration with an Anniversary Party at the Challenge Mountain Resale Store on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 4 – 7pm. A ceremonial ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 4:30pm.

Open to all, guests at the Resale Store will enjoy refreshments and hot dogs outdoors with surprise shopping deals inside. “We’re excited to celebrate this monumental year,” shares Staci Payton, Resale Store Manager.

While fundraising comes from a combination of individual donations, grants and special events, the bulk of revenue — and a major funding source overall — comes from the Challenge Mountain Resale Store with sales covering 60% of organization’s expenses. (Of significant note: 100% of all monetary donations to the organization are applied directly to programming.)

Fish & Fowl Exhibit, Jordan River Arts Council

From fins to feathers, this exhibit at the Jordan River Art Center features the work of over 40 artists working in a variety of media.
