FAMILY FUN SPRING POTTERY PAINTING

Get ready for an exciting morning filled with creativity and laughter as we celebrate the magic of spring with our Family Fun Spring Pottery Painting event on Sunday, March 17th, starting at 11 am. Join us for a fantastic adventure where kids and families alike can let their imaginations soar and create treasured memories together.

In this enchanting workshop, children and their families will have the choice between painting a delightful chick with a patterned egg or a lovable bunny with a patterned egg. Whether your little ones are fascinated by chirping chicks or hopping bunnies, there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy.

For just $30 per person, participants will receive expert guidance from our friendly instructor, along with all the colorful paints and brushes needed to bring their pottery piece to life. And to keep the fun going, we’ll also be serving up a special snack to satisfy those hungry tummies, along with our refreshing Bunny Punch for a burst of seasonal cheer.

GLCO presents Drumheads percussion ensemble

Enjoy the many sounds of percussion with The Drumheads ensemble from the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra.  The free concert, part of the GLCO’s Sunday Series, will take place at 4 PM on Sunday March 3rd at the First Congregational Church, 101 State St. in Charlevoix.

Tim Mocny, Bob Sagan, and Ken Yagiela will perform favorites, reimagined classics, video game music and more in creative percussion arrangements with drums, glockenspiel, marimba, cymbals, and “found” instruments, to name a few.  There is something for everyone and all ages in this dynamic performance.

The free of charge Sunday Series recitals are made possible through the generous support of Carolyn Klender.

GLCO presents Songs of Love recital with soprano Amy Cross

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra offers “Celebrating Songs of Love” at 4 PM on February 11, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Petoskey, 501 E. Mitchell St., featuring soprano Amy Cross, accompanied by André Strydom.  The recital is free of charge (no reservations needed) as part of their Sunday Series recitals, bringing small ensembles to neighborhood venues.

Vocalist Amy Cross is a frequent performer with area churches, Bay View Association, and with the GLCO, and is the elementary school music teacher in Harbor Springs.

The program, in honor of Valentine’s Day, will include some of the most beautiful arias ever written, beloved sacred pieces, and powerful musical theatre songs.

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra presents Reperio, free Sunday Series recital

The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) will present Reperio on Sunday, January 14 at 4 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Boyne City. The free public recital is part of GLCO’s Sunday Series, which features small orchestra ensembles performing in Northern Michigan neighborhood venues. This event is rescheduled after a January snowstorm cancellation.

The trio includes Nancy Stagnitta, principal flutist with the GLCO and the Traverse Symphony; Ya-Ju Chuang, multiple award-winning piano soloist and collaborative artist; and Dane Philipsen, principal oboist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra with guest affiliations with the Chicago and Detroit Symphony Orchestras. The trio will be performing music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Clara Schumann, William Grant Still, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, and Madeline Dring.
