GLCO presents Beethoven’s Night concert

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra presents Beethoven’s Night with Beethoven’s Symphony No7, Coriolan Overture, and Violin Concerto on Saturday October 5 at 7 PM at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts.

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra is thrilled to bring internationally acclaimed violinist Dmitri Berlinsky to our northern Michigan audiences performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto!

Mr. Berlinsky arrived on the international scene as the youngest winner in the history of the Paganini International Violin Competition in Genoa, Italy. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia into a family of musicians, Mr. Berlinsky began studying the violin with his father. At a very early age he appeared as soloist with the St. Petersburg Symphony and the Moscow Philharmonic. Since then, he has performed with the most prestigious orchestras worldwide.

Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra presents Beethoven’s Night concert on Saturday October 5th.

Internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso, Dmitri Berlinsky takes center stage in the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s concert, Beethoven’s Night, on Saturday October 5th at 7 PM at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor, Petoskey.

The all-Beethoven concert, under the direction of Maestro Libor Ondras, will include the Coriolan Overture, Violin Concerto in D major with Dmitri Berlinsky, and Symphony No. 7.

Impact100 LTB Workshop for Prospective Grant Applicants

Emmet and Charlevoix County non-profits interested in applying for a $100,000 grant in January 2025 can attend a free workshop on Thursday, October 31 from 2-4 at the Charlevoix Public Library. An identical workshop will be held at Birchwood Country Club in Harbor Springs on Wednesday, October 30. Register for a workshop at https://impact100ltb.org/events/
Impact100 awards high-impact, sustainable grants in Emmet and Charlevoix Counties, and members pool their $1,000 annual dues and award grant(s) of at least $100,000 to area nonprofits in five Focus Areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Family, and Health & Wellness.  As over 200 women have already joined this new LTB chapter, at least two grants of at least $100,000 will be awarded at their first Annual Awards in August 6, 2025. Membership closes December 15.  Prospective members or grant applicants can learn more at Impact100LTB.org

GLCO presents Nancy Stagnitta Jazz Trio in free recital

Nancy Stagnitta brings her jazz trio to Petoskey for an afternoon of American standards, Latin jazz, and original tunes. This performance, free of charge, is part of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s Sunday Series of small orchestra ensembles in neighborhood venues across Charlevoix and Emmet counties. The 4 PM concert will be held at Crooked Tree Art Center, 461 E. Mitchell St., Petoskey on Sunday September 22, 2024.

Nancy, principal flutist for the GLCO and Traverse City Philharmonic (TC Phil), is on the faculty of Interlochen and is a leading global crossover artist in jazz and classical music.

Bassist Jack Dryden, is in demand throughout Michigan, is with the TC Phil Jazz Orchestra and has played for years at the Chateau Chantal Jazz at Sunset series and Traverse City’s new Alluvion.

Bryn Roberts is the Jazz Piano Chair at Interlochen Arts Academy. An acclaimed composer and international performer and collaborator, he has toured globally with his own groups and with some of the world’s finest musicians.

Depot Duck Derby

The Depot Duck Derby is Saturday, September 28, during Fall Festival. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at ejdepot.org.  Only 150 tickets will be sold!
