Exquisite French Fine Dining Experience in Ellsworth, MI
The Rowe Inn in Ellsworth, MI is dedicated to providing every guest with a superior fine dining experience and amazing service. We touch people through our passion for the food and wine we serve.
Albert “Wes” Westhoven, our proprietor, began our journey in 1972 when he purchased a quaint family diner. He then introduced simple concepts: the ambiance of a French country inn, fresh local ingredients, French techniques, and casual dining.
Our meals are prepared with the freshest locally produced ingredients when possible. This includes Michigan’s morel mushrooms whenever they are available.
We also take pride in our collection of fine wines. You may purchase a bottle at your dinner table or take one with you as a retail sale.
We are open Tuesday-Sunday from 5:00p-9:00p and reservations are recommended.

About Us: Frank Orin Barden was born on February 3, 1876 in a log cabin on his parents farm in Crockery Township, Michigan. F.O. learned a good hard work ethic helping with the family farm, but then, took off at an early age to work as a lumberjack at lumber camps around Michigan. F. O. received business training at Davenport Institute in Grand Rapids. He worked for the Michigan Trust Company and was commissioned, in 1916, to reorganize the Boyne City Railroad and Boyne Lumber Company and in 1922 opened F.O. Barden & Son. In 1936 the youngest son Al came on board and worked with his father until 1951 when F.O. passed away. Al ran the company until he semi-retired in 1975. F.O. Barden & Sons have survived two fires, one in 1969 that destroyed only part of the building but the one in 1979 was a total loss. Now, in 2007 F.O.’s grandson Ed Barden and his son Paul are at the helm and still providing the same helpful, courteous service.

“In April 2004 Short’s Brewing Co. opened it’s doors in the Village of Bellaire. Beer was the mission and liberation was the movement. The philosophy was to bring an appreciation of craft beer to Northern Michigan with product education and creativity. Today, Short’s Brewing Co. continues the effort to educate and liberate consumers. We believe in the power of the smallness and take pride in our hands on, “mom-and-pop” approach and the energy we put into the quality of our beer, food, staff, customers and facilities. Socks Kick is a Michigan based company formed by former Rotary Exchange Student Baris Atmaca from Turkey. After visiting East Jordan numerous times over the years with his family the idea of forming a company in Northern Michigan has become a reality
For the past 35 years his family has manufactured socks and legwear. The company does a full cycle of production; starting from knitting, finishing, packaging, inspecting, marketing and exporting. All of their socks are knitted on authentic vintage machines using only the finest quality yarns made for a superior fit and finish. They provide a refined feel that is immediately noticeable to the touch.
The company aims to expand statewide and nationally. Their next step after this will be to move some of the production from Turkey to here to make MADE IN U.S.A. socks. With the support of the community Socks Kicks expects to expand while increasing local investment and creating jobs.

Project Summary: Jordan Art Walk You are invited to submit a sculpture for placement in a new sculpture walk exhibit in East Jordan Michigan. Our goal is to integrate works of art into our city’s natural environment that will engage and resonate with our citizens and visitors. This is a collaborative project of the City of East Jordan, the East Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce, the Friends of the Jordan and the Jordan River Arts Council Project Description and Theme: The exhibit theme is our relationship to our abundant natural resource of water. This may include but is not limited to water activities, cycles, quality, wildlife, cultural concepts. Sculptures will be located along a route connecting the east and west sides of East Jordan. An attractive new municipal project, “Joining Jordan” now being completed joins the two parts of the city where the Jordan River empties into Lake Charlevoix. This project has added access to pedestrian, bicycle and motorized vehicle traffic. Sculptures will be placed on city property along this pathway and into the downtown area. We feel the two projects will only serve to complement each other. Budget Description: The sculptures will be in place for 3 years and will be for sale by the artist with a 20% commission to the committee. If sold, the work of art will remain in place until the end of the exhibit (or be replaced with another sculpture by the artist with approval of the committee) There is a stipend of $500 for the artists selected for the exhibit. Concrete pads will be provided to fit the works of art. Security and liability will be under the auspices of the city. Artists will be responsible for transporting, installing and de-installing the art work. Timeline: Please submit up to 3 entries digitally by March 31st to the East Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce for jurying (info@ejchamber.org). Multiple views of each sculpture may be submitted. Artists will be notified of acceptance by April 15th and installations will take place by June 1st. Requirements: A jurying committee of local artists and citizens will make selections based on the following criteria: (1). Artistic merit of the original work. (2). Art work must be of a safe design, construction, and have the ability to be safely secured. (3). Art work must be durable for outside display year- round. (4). Art must be compatible with the unique setting of the East Jordan environs. (5) A completed Information sheet shall accompany photographs of each piece submitted (please see attached).
