Great position for experienced Marine Mechanic seeking variety, change of pace, and little supervision.

 

Marine Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced Marine Mechanic for the start of the 2023 season and beyond.  This position is for someone that likes to work on his/her own with little direction or supervision.  The Marine Mechanic will be responsible for all maintenance, service, and repair work of our storage customer boats, rental boats, and general marina related equipment.  An ideal candidate brings experience, expertise, thoroughness, attention to detail, self-direction, enthusiasm and enjoys the variety and flexibility this position has to offer.  We are not a production run style servicing marine facility with hundreds to thousands of boats but one that is more relaxed. This is a full-time 6 month-seasonal position from approximately May 1 through November 1.

It is very important to us that we get the best person for this position and so there is a lot of flexibility for the right candidate depending on their circumstances, needs, and desires.  The Marine Mechanic will work alongside the Office Manager and Owner for all things related to customer communication, scheduling, service requests, work orders, etc.

Marine Mechanic Details

  • Maintenance, service, winterization, and spring commissioning of mostly storage customer and rental boats.

  • All boats we service are trailerable boats consisting of mostly I/O bowriders and many outboard motor pontoons, tritoons, and center consoles.

  • Yamaha, Mercury, and/or Suzuki Outboard certification a huge plus! We are expanding late 2023 into 2024 to carry a line of pontoon/tritoons.  New boats will need to be setup and tested.  We have our own onsite boat ramp.

  • Current rental fleet of many Yamaha 4 stroke and some Mercury 4 stroke outboards

  • Current rental fleet of 10 Yamaha WaveRunners – experience with oil changes/general maintenance.

  • Trailer servicing and maintenance

  • Repairing/replacing replacing pontoon parts such as rub rails or fencing.

  • Maintain company trucks, diesel forklift, Kubota tractor, and other motorized equipment.

  • Parts lookup and ordering – basic computer usage.

  • All work is done at our facility.  Very few occasions of mobile service work.  Marine work is able to be performed inside with run tank and large exhaust fan and not out in the wind/rain.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

  • Problem solve and be willing to tackle anything, but also know when it’s beyond one’s ability and say no.

  • Move, launch, and haul boats using truck, forklift, and tractor

  • Help maintain the grounds which may include lawn maintenance

  • General construction/handyman type abilities a huge plus for this position

  • Good steward of Summertime Rentals and the South Arm Marina

  • This is a position that has a lot of variety and our shop also has a beautiful lakeside view location!

General Season/Schedule Overview:  

Our season is May 1st through November 1st but may extend and vary based on weather and needs.  May 1st through mid-June we are busy preparing our storage customer boats as well as setting up for the rental/boating season.  The rental boat season is extremely busy from approximately mid to late June through late August.  At that time, the rental season slows down and we ramp up for the boat storage and marina “pack-up” season from approximately early September through October into early November.

The Marine Mechanic position is ideally a M-F 8:30-4:30 or 9-5 position with some flexibility.  Possible 4-day week during part of the summer season.  No Saturdays or weekends except in the rare circumstance to get a rental boat back on the water quickly.

Compensation:

Hourly pay range of $28-34 per hour depending on experience and what you have to offer.  We also offer bonuses, paid time off/sick days, and SIMPLE IRA company match after the first year.

MARINA OFFICE ASSISTANT

We are seeking a Marina Office Assistant for the start of the 2023 season and beyond.  An ideal candidate enjoys the marina atmosphere, is self-motivated, enthusiastic, likes wearing many different hats, learning new things, and will grow as our businesses and your skillsets grow.  This position will work in mostly the office, retail shop, and gas dock but will include many other marina related tasks as needed.  This is currently a full-time seasonal position through approximately November 1st with the possibility of some part time flexible schedule work in the off season.

Marina Office Assistant basic job description

The Marina Office Assistant is the frontline voice and contact for all marina and rental operations.  The Marina Office Assistant is responsible for answering phones, taking rental reservations and inquiries, assisting marina service, storage, retail, and valet customers, and many other marina office related duties as needed.  These duties will include basic office organization, general billing and accounting tasks, maintaining gas dock fuel system log and fuel ordering, cash handling and end of day totals.  This is a position that wears many hats and requires a fun, self-motivated person with great attention to detail and follow through.

Marina Office Assistant Details​

Office/Administrative/Clerical – (Approx 70% of duties)

  • General office duties including invoicing, billing, daily sales, payment processing, and categorizing receipts.  Good Quickbooks and general accounting knowledge a huge plus!

  • Utilize Microsoft Office and various Google products to create and maintain documents, spreadsheets and more.

  • Answering phones – The Marina Office Assistant is the first and primary voice and point of contact for all incoming calls and during our busy season we receive a lot of calls!  Must be able to think quickly, direct/answer as needed, and in a fun/friendly manner.

  • Rental Reservations/bookings – utilize our reservation system for online and phone call reservations.

  • Assist the owner as needed with various office duties, general marketing tasks, and all that entails running a small marina and watersports business.

Service Writeup & Billing​ – (Approx 10% of duties)

  • The Marina Office Assistant is will perform service customer meet and greet, service write up, and communicate and coordinate with the mechanic.

Management (Approx 10% of duties)

  • ​Gas Dock – Fuel system Management​: Manages the day-to-day fuel totals and general oversight of the marina fuel tank system (aka the Gas Dock). Orders and pumps fuel as needed.

  • Will oversee much of the daily shipstore and gas dock.  Will provide an assistance roll and very much work alongside the owners, Marina Operations Manager, Mechanic, and summer Marina & Watersports Specialists to ensure smooth operation and great customer service. We have a staff of approximately 15 and growing.

Detailing/Cleaning/General Labor​ (Approx 10% of duties)

  • Cleaning/washing/detailing of storage customer boats mostly in the pre and post boating season.

  • Helps maintain marina grounds – may include gardening, building cleaning, etc as needed

General Season/Schedule Overview

Requirements

It is very important to us that we get the best person for the job and so there is some flexibility for the right candidate depending on their circumstance, needs, and desires.  Qualities a candidate must possess: attention to detail and follow through, excellent phone skills, excellent organization, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, great customer service skills, basic computer skills, and basic office skills.  Immensely helpful but not required skills/knowledge: Quickbooks, knowledge of boating and the Lake Charlevoix area.  There will be a a lot of training that goes into this position. The position will grow in both pay and responsibility for the right individual.

Compensation

Hourly starting base pay is $18-19 per hour plus bonuses, plenty of busy season overtime if desired, 1-week paid vacation/sick time, and nice tips.  We offer a 3% company match SIMPLE IRA after year 1.

  • Must be or become very comfortable operating, maneuvering, and docking boats and Waverunners.

  • Vacuums, cleans, and details boats.

  • General yardwork/gardening – mowing, weeding, watering

  • Retail sales of watersports and boating equipment and accessories.

  • Gas Dock & Dock Hand – fueling boats, assisting customers.

  • Delivery of paddleboards, water trampolines, kayaks, and more.

  • Not afraid to swim, get wet, and install water trampolines, floats, etc.

  • Good driving record and must be at least 16 years of age.

  • Must possess or willing to acquire Michigan Boater’s Safety Certificate.  Classes are available with local sheriff’s department or can be done online.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and doesn’t mind some occasional physically strenuous activity.

  • Comfortable connecting, trailering, and launching boats is a plus but not required.

  • Other duties not listed but these are the basics. We like to utilize people’s strengths and partake in the various aspects they enjoy.

  • Company logo shirts provided.  Usual apparel is T-shirt, shorts and sandals/watershoes/tennis shoes.  We work outside!

  • We have fun too!  We swim and jump in the water during breaks and to cool off. Yes, we have a giant water trampoline out front for fun!

Position requires someone who enjoys being active.   Schedule is based on customer demand but it is very busy from mid June through August.  We are open approximately Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend with rentals and May through Sept/October with other marine activities.  Some seasonal flexibility for school schedule.

OVERVIEW of Position and Duties:

Charlevoix County Commission on Aging is seeking a full time Certified Nursing Aide/Homemaker.  This position is Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30a – 4:30p for up to 40 hours a week.  No Weekends, no evenings.  This position is responsible for assisting aging adults in their home environment with activities of daily living.  Routine duties include but are not limited to bathing, personal care, dressing, transferring, light housekeeping, laundry, light meal preparation and engaging in activities to assist with isolation and loneliness.  The right person needs to love to work with seniors, on an independent basis under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.  They should be creative, positive, outgoing, dependable, flexible.  Experience is preferred.

MANDATORY Requirements:

High School Diploma

Proof of current C.N.A (Certified Nurse Aide) registration within the State of Michigan or LPN Licensure.

A valid Michigan driver’s license

Valid vehicle insurance

Proof of CPR Certification

Be able to pass a skills competency exam administered by a Registered Nurse.

Must possess the physical abilities to lift a maximum of 50 pounds and be able to transfer items to and from vehicles.

Strong positive communication skills

Strong time management skills

 

Environment:

Home based environment within Charlevoix County, using a county provided vehicle.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Meet with new patients and give them tours of our facility
  • Implement plan of care based on ongoing assessment of patient presentation and progress
  • Communicate and coordinate with patients’ physicians and other health care providers (chiropractor, massage therapy, etc.) to ensure a consistent level of care
  • Coordinate with other staff clinicians in progress of patient’s care and to problem solve on cases as needed in best interest of the patient 
  • Advocate for the Physical Therapy profession, promoting community education regarding direct access, early access, and prevention
  • Evaluate and report on patients’ progress on a regular basis
  • Uphold fair and accurate billing practices, reporting in a timely manner 
  • Comply with federal and state physical therapy regulations
  • Cooperation with basic housekeeping duties, including vacuuming, garbage, etc. 
  • Cooperation with basic office tasks, such as scanning, shredding, etc. 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2+ years professional PTA experience; preferred emphasis in outpatient ortho 
  • Valid Michigan Physical Therapist Assistant license
  • Excellent work ethic and dedication to patient success
  • Basic computer skills
  • CPR and first aid certification required
