DESCRIPTION:Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s Sunday Series presents The Cummings Quartet \n  \nThe Cummings Quartet\, presented by the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO)\, will perform a free concert on Sunday\, March 19 at 4 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Charlevoix as part of GLCO’s Sunday Series\, bringing small orchestra ensembles to neighborhood venues across Charlevoix and Emmet counties. \nThe Cumming Quartet is a northern Michigan-based ensemble of professionals who perform with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra and the Traverse Symphony Orchestra.  Named after the benefactors of the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program\, the quartet serves as teachers and artistic representatives of the Gerber youth music education program throughout the region.  Musicians David Reimer (violin)\, Elise Greidanus (violin)\, Benjamin Wu (viola) and Greg Binger (cello) will be performing works by Felix Mendelssohn\, William Grant Still\, and Joaquin Turina. \nThe concert will begin promptly at 4 p.m. No tickets or registration are needed for this free\, public concert. DESCRIPTION:Terra Nostra\, a concert celebrating the earth and the Great Lakes\, will be the 2023 season-opening main stage concert for the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) on Saturday April 29th at 7 pm at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts\, 800 Bay Harbor Drive in Petoskey. \n  \nThe GLCO Chorus\, led by Director André Strydom\, will join the orchestra\, led by GLCO Maestro Libor Ondras. \n  \nThe concert program includes: \nSpirit Chief Names the Animal People by Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate \nTerra Nostra (Our earth in Latin)\, a multimedia symphony by Christophe Chagnard about climate change\, with documentary film by Charlie Spears \nThe Great Lakes Cantata\, composed by Gwyneth Walker\, GLCO composer-in-residence. \n  \nThe concert includes an optional pre-concert talk at 6 pm by Libor Ondras as well as a post-concert reception. \n  \nTickets from $35 – $65 are available at www.glcorchestra.org.  The concert is free for veterans\, active service members and students 18 and under by calling 231-487-0010. \n

DESCRIPTION:Get ready to kick off the East Jordan Music in the Park Summer Concert venue this Friday\, June 2nd\, 7:00 PM at the Memorial Park Bandshell with Detroit’s Country Rebel Bernadette Kathryn and the Lonely Days Band.\nSince Bernadette Kathryn performed on the Grand Ole Opry Stage in October of 2017\, “her name is on everyone’s lips in the country music community.” The Lonely Days Band embodies that Nashville sound combined with Motor City Rock and with Bernadette’s intense vocals gives them mass crowd appeal for all ages.\nThe East Jordan Music In The Park Summer Concert Series runs through Friday\, July 18 with the exception of Friday\, June 23 which is the East Jordan Freedom Festival Block Party.
