“In April 2004 Short’s Brewing Co. opened it’s doors in the Village of Bellaire. Beer was the mission and liberation was the movement. The philosophy was to bring an appreciation of craft beer to Northern Michigan with product education and creativity. Today, Short’s Brewing Co. continues the effort to educate and liberate consumers. We believe in the power of the smallness and take pride in our hands on, “mom-and-pop” approach and the energy we put into the quality of our beer, food, staff, customers and facilities. We love what we do and where we live, and have a passion for supporting and enjoying the natural resources all around us. http://www.shortsbrewing.com“

Friends of the Jordan River Watershed, organized in late 1990, is a grassroots, non-profit organization whose mission is to conserve the natural resources and protect the environmental quality of the Jordan River and its watershed.
Our goals include: Preserving the natural character of the river and watershed; Informing and educating the public about our activities and issues involving the Jordan River Watershed; Protecting water quality; Promoting wise resource management on public and private lands within the watershed; Facilitating the coordination of policies and actions of various individuals, groups, and agencies affecting the environment within the watershed; Developing financial resources to carry out our mission and goals; and Pursuing broad-based support for our activities.
Over the years, FOJ has hosted numerous public information seminars and activities and continues to network with many groups and organizations as well as mentoring students on water quality and natural resource issues. We steadfastly remain an advocate for the wild and scenic Jordan River and its watershed, seek ways to remediate abuses of the past and strive to balance sustainable use for the future.
FOJ needs and welcomes the support and participation of all those who value the pristine natural wonders freely found within the Jordan River Watershed. For more information, or to become a member, please visit our website or contact Ashley Cousens, our Program Director.

Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital (formerly “Charlevoix Area Hospital”) has been caring for our area’s residents, visitors, and vacationers for more than 90 years. Much has changed during that time – advances in medical research, new technology, antibiotics and therapeutic drugs, diagnostic procedures, and treatment we could never have imagined.
Throughout the years, our facility has changed too, moving from its historic home to its present-day campus on the shores of Lake Michigan, expanding to meet the needs of a growing population, introducing new equipment and services, and continually improving skills and expertise.
Today, our hospital is recognized as one of Michigan’s most progressive community hospitals. Becoming fully integrated with Munson Healthcare has enabled us to expand our services, while keeping the hometown care and compassion our communities have come to appreciate. Our staff, always noted for their gentle care and personal touch, includes highly trained professionals and their dedicated practitioners representing many disciplines and fields of medicine.
